A permit is required for tents, greater than 225 square metres (2,420 square feet) in area or the number of seats in the tent is more than 300 persons or the tent will remain in place longer than 14 days. However, approval from the St. Catharines Fire Services for all tents open to the general public, regardless of size, number of seats or duration, must be obtained.
Contact the Planning and Development Services department directly for information on air supported structures.
Two sets of complete construction drawings, drawn to scale, must accompany all applications for permits.
When a permit has been issued, City building inspectors conduct inspections for the levels of construction outlined on the issued permit; however, for complex projects (and some minor projects) a schedule of inspections may be required to be arranged with the local inspector.
It is the responsibility of the owner, or his or her agent, to call for inspections during certain stages of project construction. To arrange an inspection, please contact the Planning and Development Services department at least 48 hours in advance to schedule the date for the inspector to visit your project.
All tent permits must also be inspected by the St. Catharines Fire Prevention prior to use.
Call 688-5601, ext. 4224 at least 48 hours in advance to schedule the date for the inspector to visit your project.
