Community profile

St. Catharines is part of the Regional Municipality of Niagara, a region bordered by the City of Hamilton to the west and the U.S. border to the east.  The total area of the region is 1,851 square kilometres (715 square miles). 

St. Catharines is the largest municipality in the region, with a population of 131,989.  The region's total population is 427,421.  As the dominant urban centre in the Niagara region, St. Catharines offers a highly skilled labour force and diverse economy with tremendous opportunities.
