St. Catharines is part of the Regional Municipality of Niagara, bordered by the City of Hamilton to the west and the United States to the east. The total area of the Niagara Region is 1,851 square kilometres (715 square miles). St. Catharines occupies 95 square kilometres (37 square miles) of this area.
St. Catharines is the largest municipality in the region, with one third of the Region's population. As the dominant urban centre in Niagara, St. Catharines offers a highly skilled labour force and diverse economy with tremendous opportunities.
