Queenston Street - Municipal Services Improvements
Page Street to Eastchester Ave

Overview

The City of St. Catharines is performing a series of improvements on Queenston Street between Page Street and Eastchester Avenue. The improvements include:

 

  • Sanitary and Storm Sewer separation
  • Watermain replacement
  • Roadway reconstruction (including bike lanes and some parking on the north side)
  • Street lighting upgrades
  • Traffic signal improvements at Oakdale Avenue and Prince Street
  • Streetscaping and Landscaping improvements

Every effort will be made to maintain access to abutting properties and to minimize inconvenience to businesses, residents and pedestrians.

On-street parking will not be possible along Queenston Street during the construction.

Rolling Road Blocks

  • Rolling road blocks will be in place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Page Street and Eastchester Avenue.
  • One lane of traffic will be open on evenings and weekends.
  • Rolling road blocks are required in order to install the new storm and sanitary sewers.
  • Detours will be posted.
  • Rolling road blocks will be in place until the fall.

Local Access

  • Every effort will be made to maintain access to abutting properties and to minimize inconvenience to businesses, residents and pedestrians.
  • Due to the scope of the work involved, on-street parking may be restricted during various stages of construction. 
  • Residents are requested to please park in their driveways or find alternative parking on adjacent streets when required during construction.
  • Schools and businesses will be open for the duration of road and sewer work.
  • To minimize disruptions for area residents, large trucks will be detoured along major roads rather than through smaller residential streets.

Transit and Paratransit

  • Some transit routes along Queenston Street will be detoured, but Paratransit service will operate as regularly scheduled.
