ST. CATHARINES FOLK ARTS COUNCIL

The St. Catharines Folk Arts Council provides a Multicultural Centre in the community dedicated to encouraging and developing Canada's Folk Arts by preserving our heritage and traditions. The Folk Arts Council also provides settlement services within the Niagara Region to assist those in transition from other countries. As part of their endeavour to promote the understanding of our cultural and enthnic background, the Council organizes the annual Folk Arts Festival.  Membership consists of five citizens appointed by Council, two of whom are Councillors, appointed for a four year term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To promote respect and understanding of our cultural, racial and religious diversity.
• Work to create and maintain an integrated and harmonious community.
• Support the successful settlement and integration of newcomers to Canada.
• Encourage and preserve the interaction of the community's diverse cultural groups.
