Port Dalhousie, Ward 6
I was born in St. Catharines and grew up in the north-end. I am married to Melody, and we are the parents of three sons, Glen, Robbie and Jimmy. We are homeowners residing in the Port Dalhousie Ward. I am a graduate of Grantham High School and Brock University and have been a high school teacher since 2000. Prior to my career in education I worked for sixteen years in the private sector. I am a current and past coach of youth sports teams.
I was first elected to St. Catharines City Council for the 1995 -1997 term of office. I am honoured to have received the most votes of council candidates across the city in the past two elections. My election campaigns are largely self-financed, with no monies received from financially vested interests. This works to help me act and vote in an objective and balanced manner. I believe the role of an elected representative is to reflect what matters to the people of this city and to place the common good first when making decisions.
I am an avid reader of nonfiction work related to urban issues. Being active in raising our sons provides the greatest joy in our lives.
My inspiration and my heroes are my Grandmother Ethel who lived beyond 103 years and my late Grandfather Cyril who was Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and later lighthouse-keeper at Port Weller.
