Purpose
City Council, at its meeting on December 1, 2008, approved the creation of an Ad Hoc Grants Committee to review grant applications and recommend approval of grants to Council as part of the Budget Process. Previously, this function was performed by the Ad Hoc Budget Review Committee.
On January 10, 2011, Councillor Phillip made a motion that the Ad Hoc Budget Committee will function as the Grants Committee for 2011. The mandate of this Committee is to examine and evaluate all grant submissions and interview any group at its discretion.
An Ad Hoc Committee is formed for a specific purpose and is automatically dissolved upon the completion of the specified task.
Vision
The City of St. Catharines recognizes that many services to the residents of the City may most appropriately be provided through the efforts of volunteer community groups.
Council gives grants that, in the opinion of the Council, are in the interest of the municipality.
Goals
The Committee shall make recommendations to Council for individual grant approval.
Membership
All members have voting privileges.The City of St. Catharines' Ad Hoc Grant Review Committee will consist of up to four members of Council.
Voting Membership
All members have voting privileges.
Membership Responsibility
Members are expected to work collaboratively with fellow members while considering grant requests from various community groups and their representatives.
Membership Term
Dissolves after all grant applications have been considered, reviewed and recommendations passed to Council for decision.
