aMUSE

Circular black and white scribble with aMUSE written in the middle

What is aMUSE?

A new and innovative, one night only, pop-up museum experience presented by the St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre. aMUSE will bring items from the collection out into a social atmosphere where the public can view, discuss, interact and share their stories about the items in the museum's collection.

The goal of the aMUSE event series is to:

  • raise awareness of the Museum within the community
  • specifically, raise the public profile of the Museum among an under-served demographic: 19-40 year olds
  • engage a new audience and present the Museum in a new and exciting light
  • excite all audiences about the resources that the Museum houses and protects

aMUSE: Collected - series two @ Mahtay Café & Lounge

aMUSE returns for a second season of one-night-only, pop-up museum experiences at Mahtay Café & Lounge, 241 St. Paul Street, on May 24, June 21, Nov. 1, and Nov. 29, 2014, featuring DJ Marinko. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

The artifacts we're bringing out for the 2014 season were collected by the Museum during a specific time period. Thus the name of this year's theme: Collected. On May 24, we looked at what we collected in the 1970s, and on June 21 we examined artifacts collected in the 1980s. On Nov. 1 we explored artifacts collected in the 1990s and on Nov. 29 we'll look at what we have collected since the turn of the 21st century!

Joining DJ Marinko, our special musical guests include Fox Trail (May 24), Aaron Berger and the Blue Stars (June 21), Whitney Pea (November 1) and Brittany Brooks (November 29).
