Heritage Tours

Whether on foot, by car or bicycle there are many tours and routes that explore the rich heritage of St. Catharines.

Self-guided Walking Tours

Victoria Lawn Cemetery Walking Tour
Learn more about the history and legacy of our community through the contributions of individuals such as Dr. Theophilus Mack, William Hamilton Merritt, Reverend Anthony Burns, and Fonce Val (Jack) Haney, by taking a Self-Guided Walking Tour at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

Downtown Heritage Corridor Walking Tour
The Downtown Heritage Corridor Walking Tour is designed to give an overview of St. Catharines´ downtown and its rich history with a series of interpretive plaques throughout the core. The tour highlights significant sites throughout downtown and tells stories of the City and its accomplishments. Tour overview maps are installed at Market Square on King Street, and at the Gateway on the corner of St. Paul Street and Ontario Street. Spend an afternoon taking in the sites while learning more about how St. Catharines grew!

Guided Walking Tours

Full Moon & Historic Ghost Walks
All tours are professionally guided, with two route options available. The walks focus on Historic Haunted landmarks in Downtown St. Catharines, with a sharing of folklore, and retelling of eye-witness accounts of hauntings and paranormal experiences.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Private group Ghost Walks can be booked at any time and group rates are available. For a list or dates and ticket purchase contact the St. Catharines Downtown Association.

The Canal Driving Tour in Merritton Ward is designed to give visitors information about the history of Merritton as well as highlight some of the valuable sites along the first three Welland Canals. The tour starts at the Welland Canals Centre at Lock 3 and has interpretative signage installed at sites along the route.
