Council & Committee Services
The Clerk provides a secretariat to serve the City Council and its standing committees in the preparation of agendas and minutes of meetings, and the tracking, preparation, and distribution of correspondence and/or directives emanating therefrom. The scheduling of Delegations/Appointment to speak at Council meetings and Appointments to Boards and Committees of City Council are coordinated through the office of the City Clerk.

2010 Elections
Nominations may be filed in the Office of the City Clerk, 50 Church Street, St. Catharines, commencing Monday, January 4, 2010.  The last day to file your nomination for office is Friday, September 10, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.  Candidates must be 18 years of age; a Canadian Citizen, and an owner or tenant of property in the City of St. Catharines; or the spouse or same-sex partner of an owner or tenant of property in the City of St. Catharines.  The Nomination Paper must be accompanied by a filing fee of $100.  Those persons filing for the Office of Mayor must submit a filing fee of $200.  All fees must be paid by cash, debit, or certified cheque payable to the City of St. Catharines. Nomination Paper also available in French - Déclaration de candidature.

Administrative & Legislative Services
The Clerk is responsible for the safekeeping of all official records of the City of St. Catharines including by-laws, agreements, and contracts. Conducts the Municipal and School Board Elections in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act and acts as division registrar for the Provincial Registrar General’s office carrying out the registration of deaths and the issuance of marriage licences. Legislative services provided by the Clerk also include Municipal Freedom of Information legislation, Business, dog and lottery licensing, and canine control. Administrative services include the City’s mail room and central telephone switchboard.
